The biggest difference in activities is Sandals Emerald Reef Golf Club located at Sandals
Emerald Bay. This championship golf course designed by Greg Norman is perhaps the finest golf
course in the Caribbean. Most golf courses boast one signature hole. This course has six Signature
holes located directly on the water (you can see overview here).
Weather for golf is ideal in winter months. Best course conditions will be in winter months.
Course can be hot in summer months. Also course is not in as good condition during summer months as
mowing and watering is adjusted for hot weather.
Sandals Emerald Bay has the best beach of all the Sandals properties. Brilliant white powdery
sand extends well into the water with a gradual slope. Unless windy, the water is calm. You will
need to wait to get there to understand the color of the water! The beach is private, uncrowded and
Sandals Grande Antigua has a great beach as well. However it is much smaller than Emerald Bay.
It is also public and can be very busy with local vendors and non-guests. If you check out pictures
of the beach at sandals.com the rail fence is what separates the hotel property from the beach.
Both resorts have great pools. It is best for pool lovers to head to Antigua in winter months.
This is because of colder air and water temperatures at Emerald Bay in winter months. The edge goes
to Emerald Bay during summer months.
Very good at both resorts. Sandals Grand Antigua offers 11 total options compared to 7 at
Emerald Bay. The French restaurant at Emerald Bay is one of Sandals best system wide.
There isn't a bad room at Sandals Emerald Bay. Beachfront Villas are right on the beach. Book
any category and you will have a great room. Sandals Grande Antigua is a different story. It is
best to use a travel agent familiar with the property to be sure you end up with the best room for
your needs and desires.
